Ah, yes. I’m familiar with this refrain as well. I haven’t voted for a third-party presidential candidate since the ’04 election. But when I did, the version I used to hear was, “Just be patient, and remember that change takes time.” Fair enough. Change does indeed take time. But what if no one seems to take seriously the issues that matter to you? Are you supposed to just abandon your principles and play along, or are you supposed to seek out a third alternative?

You and I may or may not have very different political beliefs, but I sympathize with you. Politics is a very frustrating business, to be sure.
