Excellent analysis, as always, Cathy. It seems to me that the odds are strongly against his innocence for all the reasons you cited, but not so strongly that he should be forced to resign right away. There’s no need to rush to judgment here; it’s not as if he’s in a position to use his extremely limited power as second-in-command to taint the results of any investigations. We should wait to see what those investigations turn up before drawing any final conclusions.
