I understand why you feel that way, and I admit that I sometimes get frustrated and angry when I see those same images. But I do also try to put myself in other people's shoes. And I have to admit that if I lived in a place that wasn't hit hard by the virus; and if I didn't personally know anyone who had gotten severely sick or died from it; and if I was surrounded by people who all kept telling me it was some kind of hoax or just not that big of a deal, or that masks won't help at all; then there's a decent chance I might not wear a mask, either. That's one of the reasons I wrote this piece. I wanted to do a little outreach instead of just lashing out. Not sure if it'll make any difference, of course, but I hope maybe it changes a few minds!
