I’m still processing what you’ve written here, and I’m not sure how much I agree or disagree with it (though I do think you make a very fair point about how the “extremists” are ultimately responsible for defining the middle, and how it’s quite unfair that those same people are often dismissed as too “fringe” to bother taking seriously).

That said, I just wanted to say that this was a really interesting piece, and definitely one of the most thought-provoking posts I’ve encountered on Medium. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of your work!
