She calls herself a democratic socialist, so I’m not sure I understand your objection to my pointing that out.

As far as her educational background goes, I don’t question her understanding of economics. But it’s an indisputable truth that to do all the things she wants to do (single-payer, free college, etc.), we’d have no choice but to raise taxes and increase government spending. There’s no way around that. And yes, I don’t believe that Americans are ready to do that (yet). Americans have long demonstrated an aversion to paying higher taxes, and I think the current state of affairs will have to become even more challenging for more voters before Ocasio-Cortez’s proposals gain serious traction outside of deep blue territories.
