So I understand what you’re saying, but it’s kind of hard to avoid talking about the socialism aspect of this considering that it was a major focal point of the coverage surrounding her campaign. I don’t consider myself a democratic socialist, but I do understand that it’s not the same thing as, say, Venezuelan-style socialism, and so I get the frustration that some leftists feel when those types of comparisons get tossed around. If I were writing this piece today as opposed to last year, I’d probably focus more on the issues themselves. But when I wrote this, the socialism angle was a big thing that everyone was talking about. I couldn’t have written this without addressing it, especially since it’s so closely associated with the point I was making about millennials’ frustration with the current system.
