The coverage of Kyle Rittenhouse has really stood out to me. There has been very little effort made in trying to piece together how that whole situation went down. The NY Times was surprisingly thorough and unbiased, IMHO. I was impressed with their work. But most other outlets framed the story in ways that were obviously aligned with their ideological leanings, and it was pretty darn blatant. Anyone who watched all the available video knows that this was not a case of a crazed mass shooter "hunting down" leftists, nor was it a case of a heroic militia man rescuing innocent bystanders from a rampaging horde of rioters. That there are so many people in the media clinging to one of those two narratives says a lot about just how bad of a place the industry is in right now.

That said, great analysis, Cathy! This was a really good and *very necessary* piece.
